... is a central yard with picnic tables and shade, palm trees all over, and who would have guessed: wild turkeys running here and there ;-) There is also a beautiful red haired cat, that comes around when one is eating. Too bad, I had only vegetables, and he was not that hungry ;-) Around the yard here and there a hammock for relaxing, and a café where I enjoy my daily “flat white” coffee.

... venom. I was so sweaty at the end of the hike and jumped into the ocean. Of course as soon as I got out (wore a bathing suit but didn't bring a towel!) a storm hit so I couldn't dry off! ... headed into the water.  I was shocked that I was actually able to catch a wave and stay up; even managing a shaka sign!  I wiped out *******ce though and got knocked in the head with my board.  Got back up though!  After surfing we headed out to a small hippy town called Bryon Bay, which in a way reminds me of Saltspring though much more commercial.  Staying at a pretty fun hostel tonight before heading out ...

... lessons looked shocked that someone had just caught the wave i had. Fi said how amazed she was at how well I had picked it up and told me if I needed a hand picking a board when it comes to buying one she would help me and that now I can officially surf! :D

Byron's main street was closed for a street party, but no booze on the street so we just got hammered at the camp with the guys working at Spot X (another surf camp) and stumbled into town. There were over 1000 people ...

... of their road called the Roadhouse was worth a visit. We decided to take the bikes that had thoughtfully been provided for us to ride down for dinner. The Roadhouse turned out to be a gem - blues music, great food and drink, and atmospheric lantern-light. Marvellous! Think the atmosphere went to our heads, so I managed to have quite a few of a local ale (Lord knows what it was called, Mother Hubbard's Flange Loosener or something) followed by plenty ...
