Up at sunrise and had breakfast before dropping sabrina off for whitewater rafting. Did another rainforest walk hoping for a cassowary... no luck. Had a swim before a 4km hike up a mountain, again in cassowary territory, but no luck. Great view of the city... if there werent bush fires everywhere. Lazed on the beach and did ...

... and then we headed off to a National park on the outskirts of town called Bowling Green Bay, not resembling much like a bowling green, but very nice set in a forrest, with wobbilies ( wallabes) and wild turkeys running around, there was even turtles in the creek!<br><br>Next morning we were off into town and found a great caravan park, right on the water front, we booked in for three days ...

... We didn&#8217;t see any, but did manage to see a couple of possums a bit later on &#8211; they were just sitting on the garden fence. Very cute with their big eyes. ... Ein besonderes Highlight war aber auch die Fahrt zu den abgelegenen Faellen da wir auf eine Strassensperre in Form einer schaetzungsweise 2,5 m langen Python trafen. Gluecklicherweise entschloss sie sich nach einigen Minuten doch den Weg frei zu geben und wir mussten nicht aussteigen um sie von der Strasse zu tragen. ... night was Sausage Sizzle night with the added bonus of live music &#8211; a quirky mix of country &amp; western, rock n roll and, surprisingly, opera. Tony&#8217;s version of Nessum Dorma sent shivers up the spine and brought the house down. Annie told some very funny jokes and warned us beforehand that if we didn&#8217;t laugh, she wouldn&#8217;t clean the toilets. We have loved staying here but we are off tomorrow to Cairns for our final farewells as we leave on Thursday &#8211; sob.

... So I booked the cheapest one I could find which meant getting up at 3am to get the shuttle to the airport so we could leave at 6.
