... before she left, then finished our drinks before heading out. Darren got some photos with a couple of Norwegian style trolls that were in the window of the pub then we all headed down to Daren's car. We got in and Daren drove us back to Karina's, (although looking back, he probably shouldn't have...) then as we were getting near her street there was a girl walking on the street so Darren beeped Daren's horn. Then she turned into the street we were about to drive down. Awkward. ...

... t very fun and I was afraid to take pictures of the view. But on the way up each floor was a museum and had interesting facts about the old bells and statues of Ghent. Then we looked in a beautiful church, I couldn't believe how big it was but we weren't allowed to take pictures.

Now it was snack time after all that tower climbing and we checked out a cafe that was recommended in one of my books ...

... When they told me about this festival I decided to add it to my itinerary.

I am pretty sure if the same thing was attempted in Australia it would have to be called off after the first few days after too many drunks tried walking across the road, passed out in the gutter or fell off the bridge. Not the Belgians though, they are the picture of moderation, and have never ending energy to boot.

... was still one more country we wanted to see: Belgium! Now, we didn't have much time, but boy did we get our money's worth!
Our travel plan worked out nicely in the beginning, for Dad had a meeting in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, so while he had his meeting the rest of us walked around the shopping mall! It was a very nice mall, and we all had fun! We then began our drive to Ghent, the city we were staying ...

... to the Justice Palace which was supposed to be magnificent but turned out to be on renovation… but we had a chance to enjoy a gorgeous view from the terrace right next to it.
