We hear the alarm for 8am and get ready, shower and pack before meeting John and Jenny for breakfast at 9am. I look out the window and it's still pitch black, mornings are depressing in Spain. Lucky the sun doesn't go down until 7:30pm, so you don't lose too much of your day. We head down at 9am and see John and Jenny already tucking into some breakfast. We are finished within the hour, head up to our rooms to clean our teeth and grab our bags. We head off and check out by 10am. We ...

... 2hours later and it is well worth the stop over. It's all cobblestone paved through every little walkway, and is surrounded by dairy farmers so most of the shops are full off cheeses, chocolate and cured meats... My kind of store! It has a lovely promenade accented by colourful gardens. Very pretty. After a late start, we left for ...

... don't know but partly they want to be free. I don't have that joy (stress!) as Mr Lander has mapped my journey out already....although I rebelled the first night. Last observation is that everyone gives each other space. Walking today I caught up with a couple I'd been with last night. As I came up to them they crossed the road. It might have been that my travel wash isn't as effective as I'd hoped but I think it was to give me, and them, space. Not having to talk. ...

    Day 2....I find the pilgrims!

... drawings and instead majored on the state of their hearts...and feet. Met my first proper pilgrims walking my way and staying at my albergue. In their mid 60's. I was feeling good as I was slightly faster than them until I discovered that they'd started in Belgium. It's probably unpilgrim like but bloody hell! Got to a really lovely albergue. Part of an old monastery which is being renovated. It was like turning up to the apocryphal Spanish unbuilt hotel ...
