... of Belgium. We passed Fort Breendunk which is now a national memorial. It was a prisoner of war camp. Antwerp means at the wharf. It is a harbor town. Legend has the name meaning "throwing of the hand" after a battle with a giant and when he was killed, his hand was cutoff and thrown in harbor. During the War of 80 years, Antwerp was badly damaged. All shipping was halted and Antwerp was in serious economic decline. ...

The original town was destroyed in the WW1 but most of the buildings were rebuilt in the early 1920's in the original style so it is very pretty. ... 1.2kg. I know size varies but the best I could figure was 75-80 mussels. I ate them all and Joanne finished her Flemish stew which must have had 10-12oz of beef and an extremely tasty sauce.
