... of Belgium. We passed Fort Breendunk which is now a national memorial. It was a prisoner of war camp. Antwerp means at the wharf. It is a harbor town. Legend has the name meaning "throwing of the hand" after a battle with a giant and when he was killed, his hand was cutoff and thrown in harbor. During the War of 80 years, Antwerp was badly damaged. All shipping was halted and Antwerp was in serious economic decline. ...

I had to get up early to catch the metro into the train station for the train to Brussels. Everything went smoothly and Tim was waiting at the station to pick me up. It was a little cold but a clear day. His apartment is super nice, it looks over a park and is very spacious. My room would fit at least six people in it if it were a hostel.
