    ... is also a restaurant where Karl Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto. He was then kicked out of the city!

    Apparently no visit to Brussels is complete without viewing the famous Manneken Pis, a tiny statue of a tiny boy peeing. This little statue has over 900 costumes and this morning he was wearing one about something but we did not know what. After what I saw later, he should have been wearing a One Direction t-shirt!

    ... Smurf statue and a shop of Belgian cartoon characters such as Tintin and the Smurfs, and traveled by train back to Ghent. Our lunch had been so late that we dined on fruit and peanut butter in our room, with a nice amber beer from the bar downstairs for Karen. Feet up! Shower! Heaven! And still the lovely view of lights on the canal out our window. Belgium is a very pleasant place!

    Tomorrow we pack up, board a bus, and head to the WWI sites--Flanders ...
