After a 7 hour ferry ride, finally arrived at the port in Samos at 2.30 am only to find that the hotel we thought would be just across the road, was actually on the other side of the harbour, 5 kms away. After waiting for taxis to come and go, arrived at our hotel at 4 am, tired and grumpy.
With only 2 hours sleep, caught a taxi to the port on the other side ...

It's only 10 mins or so from the beach of Potami to the turn off to the Waterfalls and Church of Metamorphosis. Another highlight along our walk through history was the Temple of Hadrian, which dates back the 2nd century. The remaining walls have been carefully reconstructed and depict the husband and wife who built the temple along with various scenes of ...

Samos was our favorite island visited on our cruise and is one of the lesser visited of the Greek islands which has, thankfully, allowed the island to retain some of its original charm. Cafes and souvenir shops line the street facing the port but by walking a few blocks away from port, the tourist shops end and local shops abound. Locals walking by call out "good morning" to friends ...
