... over those lights. People pay $3000-$6000 for professionals to install, maintain and store their lights - plus the cost of the actual lights and electricity. The electric bills can be $10k a month alone! The houses were gorgeous too - clearly money no issue in that area! We were so lucky with the weather today.... chilly but sunny and no wind. Pretty perfect for December! Amazing day one in this amazing city ...

Onto the underground again and up to Central Park where we managed to walk into the middle this time. (Next time we'll start at the other end!) The park is an amazing asset to this city, is well used and loved.

Later in the day we caught a bus to Newark and stayed in accommodation close to the airport ready for our flight to Seattle. We were told to purchase bus tickets for "seniors" which amused us greatly. ...

... I managed to get off to sleep, waking a few more times and just hitting play again. Had an alarm set for 9am as the marathon expo/registration opened at 10. We took our time getting up and ready. The venue was just a few blocks away so we walked, grabbing some breakfast on the way, we arrived not long after 10 and the line was already massive, not sure how long we waited, around 45mins I think. ... bartender - nice young fellow. He told Darlene that she reminded him of his mom - except she looked younger. Enjoyed our last evening beverage before calling it a night and heading back to our hotel.

The other girls saw a dead rat today!! I am disappointed I never got to see one...was hoping on our walk home from the pub we would see one in the garbage bags sitting out on the curb - but no luck :(

... We even got to watch a TV serial being filmed. Then off to the Patel points! Took the ferry to Statue of Liberty and decided to not get off there (yep, it is big and still there), rather rode all the way to Ellis Island. Ellis Island has a wonderful museum inside telling the tales of millions of immigrants who risked it all to get to the wrong India (Dang Columbus!)....amazing stories of families ...
