... bit grotty and run down and a bit poor… that does not normally put us off though so not sure what was wrong. The town was under going a fair bit of renovation and rejuvenation work and has a hell of a lot of potential as great place to visit…so perhaps in 5 years that is exactly what it will be. We went for a wander and found the amphitheatre which was like a mini coliseum in the center of town. It ...
Arles, Provence, France darrenhough74... over 1.5 million tourists each year as it is the source of a natural spring. It's wierd seeing a fast flowing river and then walking 50 metres "upstream" and there only being a trickle.. and then a bit further and no water... nothing but a big cliff straight up!
The town itself is nestled in a valley and is particularly pretty at dusk when rocks take on the colours of the sunset ...
Wait a minute, we’re not traveling to Italy until tomorrow…but we spent the day in Arles exploring Roman architecture.
The biggest site in town is the amphitheatre, or coliseum. Glimpses through different side streets pull you even closer like the hub it has always been. Huge in scale, some seating is till original and large towers give sweeping views of the ...

Then we start the final run north - first a night at Beaujolais, then 2 nights at Strasbourg and one last night at Munich before we leave Big ...
... since Susan and Brett last visited, but at €18.00 each, plus wine and wonderful coffee, it is extraordinary value.
Alison sat outside with one of the waiters while I paid the bill, and explained that we were from Nouvelle Zelande. The waiter replied that there had been two people from New Zealand having lunch the day before and several the previous week. So the word must have got around. Next time we might have to reserve.
... 2 would be our last. Saturday March 7th Early start so we could get back to Arles for market day. Our intention was to seek out a hidden bric-a-brac (brocante) treasure but the market wasn't really that type. M spotted painting she liked and I tried on a pair boots as it is still so cold. Both of us passed on purchases thinking we might see something we'd prefer but as always, did not and it was too late to go back. Arles is definitely worth a visit as the arena is huge ...
St Remy de Provence, France kyria... do you wear?" to "Can you reach that jar of jam off of the top shelf for me?") while also buying the FLL time to frantically piece together any context clues obtained from the exchange. Step 3: Embellish the magic words. If one has employed the magic words and the NFS still waits expectantly, an FLL may buy more time in the situation by embellishing the magic words with hand gestures and mouth noises: staples of any French conversation. For ...
