Trendy, a little yuppieish and a bit expensive, but can't beat the beach!!! We found a fellow Canadian serving gelato, and enjoyed people watching on Hastings St.
The water is amazing, beautiful, gorgeous...pictures simply can't do it justice. We saw some surfers and a bunch of kite surfers.....won't be trying that one!
... other cultures I'd go so far as to say they weren't always that knowledgeable about other states in their own country. American news is very confined to America, my impression is they live in a bubble, and it's easy to see why they are so patriotic.

... in its top branches. The walk took us from the main beach along the coast line to Alexandra beach, where we then joined the rain forest trail inland and round finishing at Sunshine beach. We stopped for an ice cream reward at the beach before heading back with sore feet to the hostel. ... stove for boiling some water (this was unusual, normally he would only light the wood stove at night for cooking dinner, otherwise it was wasteful, obviously). Which meant there would be hot water for a shower.
