Trendy, a little yuppieish and a bit expensive, but can't beat the beach!!! We found a fellow Canadian serving gelato, and enjoyed people watching on Hastings St.
The water is amazing, beautiful, gorgeous...pictures simply can't do it justice. We saw some surfers and a bunch of kite surfers.....won't be trying that one!
We left Byron late on the Saturday afternoon after a morning of more exploring and shopping and headed towards Noosa. I had read lots about Noosa before our trip and decided it sounded like a really nice mix between hippie relaxed and cosmopolitan modern so I was very excited to go and melt into that culture. We arrived in the late evening around 7pm at the campsite we had chosen, only to be told "there was no room at the inn" so to speak, nor at our second choice! Nooosa ...
... are all very friendly. There was a mix of young Europeans in rented compact campers, tents, and the Grey nomad caravaners traveling with their pets. A few had their generators running from the back of their camper, powering microwaves and kettles, but some had extensive house furniture and white goods, giving the impression of long term dwelling, which was unusual for a rest spot.

... 9am shuttle into town in search for a surf school so I could take a more private lesson but not pay a private-lesson-price. Another chick staying at the hostel pointed me in the right direction (and offered her narrow, short board to me....oy!) and I eventually grabbed a surf lesson. It was kind of raining on and off in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon so that was nice. i managed to downgrade from the silly 9 foot long boards they ...
... Noosa took several hours, which was a bit annoying as a direct drive would be less than 2. We called at Australia zoo, founded by Steve Irwin and still has a massive sign with his face on the front entrance.
At around 6 I arrived in Noosa, a nice little town on a lagoon and surrounded by a few national parks. As it was already getting dark I watched the sunset over the lagoon from the hillside then headed back to the hostel via the ...
