An Sonntagen scheint …
Day 6 - Best of the South Shore
... failing me. We went to see the "Spouting horn" which is like a geyser rising through a hole on the rocks each time a wave comes in. It makes a lovely roaring sound but it was not nearly as high or spectacular as Old Faithful while we were visiting Yellowstone Park with the kids when they were little and not so little. We toured the free entrance part of the National Botanical Gardens which claims to be ...
Day 4- best day on the North shore
We headed up to the North shore today on a mostly cloudy but warm day about 25 degrees C. We drove up the east coast so the vegetation is lush and green with vines climbing up "anything they can get their hands on ". First stop was at the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge where you can see albatrosses gliding in the wind and roosting in the bushes. Also saw Hawaiian geese called nene, Kauai's state bird, which ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Castle Kaha Lani Lihue
Great Location
We choose the Kaha Lani for its oceanfront, central location and we were not disappointed. We were in a ground floor unit with a fantastic view of the ocean. Our patio opened up to a huge grassy lawn area and the ocean just beyond that. This is a great location to stay in with kids because there is a sandy beach to play at and a huge playground just a short walk away along the ocean. Our unit was very comfortable with a fully stocked kitchen and a comfortable bed. We had two adults and one child in a one bedroom unit and it was perfect size for us.
It is also conviently located near many restaurants and activites, but it is still in very quiet location. Another plus was the parking is very close to the units. We will definitely stay here again.
Peaceful stay
My husband and I just returned from a week long stay at the Kaha Lani and we absolutely loved it. Our first impression of the interior was that it could use a few upgrades, but considering the spectacular view, the location, the size, and all the amenites, this was quite a bargain. We got a great rate thru the Entertainment book at $98 per nite. This is the most peaceful place we've ever stayed and we'll definitely come back. The staff were very friendly, the daily maid service excellent, and the grounds were extremely well kept and immaculate. I miss it already!
Very peaceful
My daughter and I spent 4 nights at the Kaha Lani. We both enjoyed our accomodations very much. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from the living room, dining room, and lanai. The condo was very clean and nicely decorated with lots of open space. The location was close to everything, but away from the hub bub. The pool was right next to us, which we enjoyed. The room number was 218. I would recommend this condo.
Wouldn't recommend
Based partly on the previously posted reviews about this place, my husband and I chose to stay here in an ocean view room on a recent trip. I don't remember the room number (3rd floor location closest to tennis courts). It was terrible. The paint was peeling throughout. Everything from the doorknobs/locks to the refrigerator to the boombox was rusted. Some of the kitchen drawer fronts were loose. The dishwasher was broken. The carpets were frayed and my 3 yr old son almost caught his foot and tripped on one of the carpet edges that was coming off. Then there was the smell and the bugs. After one night, we switched to the Marriott Waiohai and recovered our vacation.
Nice Place to Stay in Kauai
We spent a week at the Kaha Lani condominiums. Our 1-bedroom unit was very clean, nicely furnished, and had a very nice "ocean view". We turned down an upgrade to "oceanfront" in favor of larger rooms and bath-and-a-half convenience. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful; daily maid service was a good thing. We had concerns about the lack of air conditioning, but were totally comfortable with the ceiling fans and open windows that let in the ocean breeze. I'd return here in a heartbeat!!!
Go there
My husband and I just came back from 10 days in Hawaii, seven of them in Kauai at the Kaha Lani. We had a one bedroom ocean view and we were thrilled with the accomodations. The place inside and out was spotless, and we had a view of the pool and ocean which was just fine. One day we actually saw whales leaping in the water while we were having breakfast on our deck. It is a short walk to Lydgate Park which has calm swimming and beginner snorkeling. Would definitely recommend the Kaha Lani to friends and family.
Great place to stay!
My husband and I went to Kauai for 10 days on our honeymoon. We had researched the entire island for the best place to stay at a reasonable price. We found the Aston Kaha Lani was the perfect place! We had a 1 bedroom condo, complete with kitchen appliances and a huge front porch overlooking the pool and ocean. We could watch the sunrise from our porch. We also had 2 bathrooms which is a nice plus. The condo resort was very private and peaceful. Houskeeping was excellent. Laundry facilites were handy in that we didn't have to pack so many clothes. We will definately come back here again! -Nikki
Fine Place To Stay
My wife and I recently spent 5 nights at the Kaha Lani and were very happy with the accomodations. The oceanfront location is great and, although the beach right there is not suitable for swimming, there are many excellent beaches nearby. It's a bit secluded (actually a plus as far as we're concerned) but centrally located for getting around Kauai. Our unit had a full kitchen, TV, VCR, and virtually all the other conveniences. The one amenity lacking is air conditioning, although the ceiling fans were just fine for all except the first day or so, when it was pretty humid. We were also provided with a supply of beach towels, which were replaced daily as needed. The staff was very friendly. We would not hesitate to go back to the Kaha Lani. It's moderately priced, and was a pretty good value for the money. This was our first visit to Hawaii, and our 5 days on Kauai were infinitely more enjoyable than the 3 days we spent on Oahu.
GREAT CONDO WE LOVED IT!
We stayed here looking for peace and beauty and found it in abundance!
The Condo was clean and pretty and the area was beautiful. Right on the beach. Easy to get around to other parts of the island. I would highly recommend this condo for anyone looking to get away!
All Kauai
If your looking for no frills, no lobbys, no gift shops no bars, no restaurants - but want a clean and quiet condo with a GREAT LOCATION, Kaha Lani is it. Beauty is in the eye, and Kaha Lani is a beautifull setting thats only steps from a quiet beach that also boasts a relaxing pool (no spa). Minutes from Kapa'a and Wailua. Love this place, I highly recommend it.
