Historical Traveler Reviews Aston At The Maui Banyan Kihei
We had an excellent vacation at the maui banyan. We stayed in a two bedroom and the condo was nicely decorated and clean. We were there for 9 days and I would definately stay there again. The location is really convenient to most everything and the Kamole beaches are literally right across the street. Our family had two adults and two teenagers and the condo was spacious enough so we never felt cramped. Since we were staying for so long I asked the front desk staff to see the condo before we checked in just to be sure. I was not disappointed! We stayed there the first week of October which was another reason the condo was so reasonably priced.
The Maui Banyan is a five-story building hosting individual condo units with small patios outside. It has a hotel feel. We were pleasantly surprised and happy with the accomodations. Our unit was a one-bedroom condo with two bathrooms and a washer & dryer which were very convenient. The bedroom is separated by pocket doors into the living room. The living room has a pull-out couch. The kitchen was clean and well equipped with dishwasher, microwave fridge...and fully stocked with pots/pans, silverware, etc. The pool area had gas bbq grills which worked out wonderfully. The only bad remark I can give the Banyan is that the window air conditioner was insufficient for the room size. We kept it on high all day and it still never fully cooled the condo. We ended up sleeping in the living room and keeping the pocket doors closed to the bedroom to get some relief from the heat. We would definitely stay there again...despite this. Previous reviews stated that the Banyan was noisy...we never noticed any noise. Kihei is a great central place to be in Maui and I would not hesitate to go back.
It was ok

We just got back from Maui. This property has been rated a 5 star resort in the Interval International book. The accomadations were nice and clean, but far from the 5 star properties that we have stayed in before. Do not expect the units to be fully stocked with amenities.
We stayed here for a week in January 2003 before going on to a resort on Kauai for a week. Started off a little nervous as in our rental car we discovered roaches. This made everything seem a little dirty. But once we got over that - we enjoyed the stay. The rooms were clean - the space was more than we needed and we did not notice any sounds others have reported- despite being almost directly above the main entrance.
Nice view of the mountaions and the beach from our balcony. Wlaking distance to a nice shopping center where we booked all our activities and ate at the Denny's for breakfast.
Starbuck's is right up the street (must drive there) which made my wife a happy camper!
It was a 1 bedroom with full kitchen.
Overall we really liked the place and will be happy to stay there again.
Want to return
We had a great time in feb at the Maui Bayan in kihei. I had never been to Maui before, the accomodation was perfect. We had a great rest. The staff were very good and helpful when we needed anything. I hope we can make this trip a yearly event. Thanks Jackie
Stayed for two weeks on a High School trip four years ago and had the best time. I am coming back and chose to stay here again!
Comfortable and Quiet
Stayed for 5 nights recently. Great location away from the main road. Lots of parking available. I had a ground floor one-bedroom condo facing the parking garage and driveway, but still very quiet! It has two average pools, but never used them. As noted you are right across the street from Kama'ole Beach 2 and short walk to the other beaches. Front desk staff are friendly and average helpfulness. My room was basic, yet very clean and bright. Perfect for me, I was away during the day and home in the evenings. Overall, a great stay and spacious room for the price. I would definitely return again.
Just stayed there for two nights two weeks ago in order to play golf on Maui. The check-in was done by a very nice staff, and they made sure we had all the information we needed to make our stay comfortable. Our two bedroom unit was clean and very nice, with a cute lanai in the back for our casual use. The sofa bed was a bonus for me. It was one of the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! My group had two of these units, and we all agreed that these condo units were outstanding. It made our trip worthwhile.
Home away from Home
Stayed 2 weeks at the Maui Bayan and totally enjoyed our stay. We had a one bedroom on the third floor. We found it was clean, the staff friendly, and good BBQ areas. The pool areas were always clean and were not too busy. It is a five minute walk to the beach, which was a real benefit. We usually made breakfast/lunches or BBQ'd. We could have stayed a month because this ability made the trip much more relaxing (as well as saved us money). When we first entered the hallways we were a little disappointed, because there were lots of stains on the carpet (which didn't give a very good first impression). The rooms are likely due for a renovation in the near future, but were very clean. We would definitely return to this condo.
Recently stayed at the Maui Banyan Feb. 2003. Rooms are very clean with comfortable beds, front desk staff is nice but not overly helpful, a Pleasant Hawaiian Agent is located on property to help with planning tours not necessarily the best deals but they are very helpful, groundskeeping staff is very helpful in telling you where to eat, DA KITCHEN - local plate lunches, and what to do, Lanai is small but who needs that when Kam II, the beach, is directly across the street. The rooms are quite, no traffic noise, so that you can enjoy the sound of the ocean and the birds. Located a short walking distance from everything in Kihei. If renting a car there is parking but the spaces are small and they do not charge a per day parking fee. I would stay there again.

... about 40 miles. It offered a place to get a drink and more importantly go to the bathroom.
We continued our trip, taking pictures along the way. At about 6:30pm, we arrived back to Katana and had dinner before going back to the condo.
We have now pretty much covered the island. Our plan now is to spend more time in the water.

... Penny. It was a little nerve-wracking, I won't lie. I still recall a family vacation to California when I was seven years old. I don't specifically remember where we were - Sea World, maybe - but there was this huge enclosed fish tank with fake coral walls that you could snorkel in. My Dad paid through the nose to get my brother and I in with him, and after the arduous task of getting us outfitted and prepped, I definitely freaked out in the water and had to be pulled ...
After breakfast we headed out to the north side of the island to hike at Twin Falls. It is about a 1.5 mile hike from the trailhead. Once there, you had to wade up stream for about 30 yards to get to them. Nicholas and I made the wade and he jumped in and swam under the falls that were maybe 50 feet high. It was beautiful. After the hike back, we bought a coconut and some coconut candy at the roadside stand. Then drove back and had a ...
