Beaches Wars! From Rainbow to Dicky!

... the obligatory brisk walk up the beach and back via the coastal path, which mostly winds through the greenery behind the beach. Where it does not, it is detouring around obstacles such as schools. It is interesting to contemplate the number of different ways one can incorporate the local ecology into your curriculum when your school grounds extend down to lagoons, mangroves, salt marsh and a surfing beach. You don’t get that in many schools in Leeds!

Staring at the jacuzzi!!

... for our hotel. I spent the trip curled up on the passenger seat asking for frequent stops.

The following two days didn't bring any better feelings to my stomach and we rarely ventured outside of our hotel room. Only to drop by the pharmacy for some hydralyte & eventually some hot chips. It was the first thing other than fruit that didn't turn my stomach. So we sat by the beach with our hot chip sandwiches & my hydralyte & took in an hours ...

Gold Coast and Moreton Island

Leider ...

Back to Brisbane & Moreton Island

... our journy north to Cape Moreton, which has a Lighthouse ontop of the cliff. We parked up and walked up to the Lighthouse - we could see tutles off the coast in the Sea. We picked a really nice day as everything looked so blue. Next we wanted to find a spot to camp in, we decided on a campsite with toilets (haha), we looked at two campsites then decided to stay at the second (Comboyuro Camp Area) near the Bulwer Wrecks. We pitched up and walked down to the ...

I have left the camera in the car so if you can wait until tomorrow and I will load the photos up. Be Good - All4ofus. On the beach

We woke up to a gorgeous sunny day so headed straight up the highway to Caloundra, the first coastal town on the Sunshine Coast. After checking in to a caravan park we went straight to the beach, the first time Deb's has actually been in the sea in Australia!! It's been ...

SB: Due to our lack of time to do the coast, we decided to skip places we weren't so bothered about - went straight through Surfers Paradise on the bus, then had only about a 30 min stop in Brisbane before travelling further North. The bus did stop at Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, but apart from the crocs (which we'd see in Darwin), we'd already seen all of Australia's wildlife in the wild. Gutted we didn't get a ...

An End Before the End

... provided by the Wallaby Creek bowerbird project. Nonetheless, I feel that my position as a volunteer field assistant was repeatedly taken for granted and even abused, my health was treated with a cavalier attitude, and I for one am very glad to be among my family here in Caloundra, relaxing and returning to normal life. I still feel extremely exhausted, despite several days of rest, but I am sure this will pass. I am planning to leave for Sydney ...

For dinner with had both Korean and Chinese food. What I Learned Today: Always take your camera with you to the beach.
