... we just have our cameras, just in case).

The evening ends with us eating at a restaurant along the Passeig de Gracia called 'Madrid Barcelona'. A good choice it seems as it starts out quietly, then many locals come eat and go, then becomes quiet again as we sit and take in the atmosphere and finish our Rioja and Olave, a local liqueur, but it burns like Grappa. Still a nice finish to the evening.

... old neighborhoods and it rivaled the coolness of Las Ramblas on the way down. Super narrow streets with little plazas every once and while, gelaterias, small shops, street performers and perfect weather as we wound through the streets in the general direction of the plaza. ... than I expected. I've never been crazy for Picasso. Whenever I see a painting that is totally abstract, I wonder if the artist could paint a realistic painting. In Picasso's case, he was quite good. This museum had a lot of his earlier work. Some of the paintings were from the time he was only fourteen years old. ... this makes sense since basically the rest of the world is on the metric system, but it was still a challenge for our American public school brains to process on the fly. ... half both watching the game and pondering her and her husband’s incompetence. I realized that because of their inability to read a ticket, instead of being one section apart, now they had traded to be in totally different quadrants of the stadium, unable even to get to each other.
