... did not look very exciting so continued east to Axminster, home of carpets. A nice little town centred around the old church in the square and busy with a farmer's market happening today. Had morning tea at the River Cottage Cafe, the home of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's empire. Very nice and a good price. There were copies of all his cookbooks all round the walls for sale. Left before our parking time expired and went on down to Lyme Regis on the coast. This town ...

St Austall to Brixham

After leaving St Austall we headed for Fowey which is such a gorgeous village at the mouth of the river. ... 4pm! Wandered back up to look at the old city walls. Nearly 70% of them are still there and are almost 2000 years old! They have repelled rebellions as well as witnessed celebrations. Sunday 7th September Ready for a quiet day today, so had a leisurely brekkie and chat with our host. This is a 450 acre organic farm growing a variety of crops for animal feed. They milk 180 cows and sell it through an organic co-op. Also have a few pigs and goats that we feed our vegetable ...

Gareth has now set sail from Plymouth at approximately 4pm. All feeling a little bit nervous today as the reality hits. Managed just about to get all of our stuff in the car. Fully loaded but we did it. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new era , very very excited. Enjoyed a full on day with the boys and Granny in ...
