Appartamento Soleil Sorrento

Nous avons pris l'autobus publique pour atteindre le sommet du vesus, le volcan n'a pas tellement a offrir, mais la vue sur la bay est vraiment belle. Ensuite, nous avons visités les ruines d'Herculaneom. Une autre ville disparue sous l'eruption du vesus il y a pres de 2000 ans. il y a encore beaucoup de travail d'archeologie en cours, mais on peut voir que la ville est meiux conserver, il y a meme des batiments de 2 et 3 etages et des pieces de bois qui ont traversé le temps !

I am so far behind with this blog. Partly, it's because we have traveled every single month during 2009. There's so much to tell & show that unless I write every week, I'm always several trips behind. The other problem is ...

Ola Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.

Sunday caught the train out to Pompei which was ginormous!
I think we only saw ...

... so far.
Naples is not a nice city, but it's a cool city. Venice, Florence, Verona are all nice, but once you've seen the sights, there isn't much else to them.

Walking around the Spaccanapoli district saw some really cool stalls and shops - some that looked like they had been there for ages and not changed much at all. Old school book stores with books piled high and seemingly without any order or system, a stretch on San Sebastiano that ...

... to find out that they were meant to go off at midnight that night during this festival with music and food but went off at noon - only in Italy. We get up the next morning and head into Naples on our way up towards Rimini. You will notice no photos of Naples and that is because we did not get out of the car long enough to take any. The place is dirty and crazy. We probably had the shortest tour through the city anyone has ever had. We hit Pompeii for a couple hours before shoving off...

I finally joined my Kumuka tour in a very fancy hotel in Rome after a very arduous ordeal of getting to the other side of Rome from my bed bug infested sardine can of a hostel. I saw that it was on Aurelia st, and went to the beginning of the street, starting with number 1. Unfortunately, my hotel was number 481, and it was up a steep, winding hill. I walked for a very long time (swearing a lot, much like a crazy person) until I found a bus. Aurelia st was ...

... and one big trip to the post office to send it all home. It was a very nice relaxing day where we got to feel like town locals. We found a nice restaurant and had a fancy last dinner. We were the only ones in there for a while because of our desire to eat dinner about 5 hours before the Italians. Eventually an American couple came in and we chatted about how early we like to eat. After food we decided to check out this gelato place our Canadian roommates told us ...

... realized these men spoke no English so they started calling for Andrea Andrea for translation but found Luisa to help out with the English. We found out that these men work on these nets every night. When we asked why Gabriele was the only one working on the huge pile of net he explained in Italian "because the young boys are not hearty enough to do this job and tire too easily to do this job" - we all got a good laugh out of that. Then the younger guys ...

... definitely just chilling out in the beautiful blue water with all my friends. I had such a fun time in both Capri and Sorrento. Both places were super great and fun. I wasn't anticipating them to be that great, but they really were! On Sunday we spent a few hours in the town of Amalfi where we had lunch and could shop around, but it was so touristy that it wasn't that fun. Once lunch was over we boarded the bus and headed back to Florence.
