Cloudy start, but the forecast was good. After yesterday, dry was OK. But it warmed up and the sun came out. And we wore clothes - not t-shirt and shorts. The French are already in winter clothing - coats, scarves and boots.

The bread van arrived - noisily- at about 8 this morning. I looked out to see people emerging from their vans to get bread. Our first super long train ride of the trip. The ride from Paris to Nantes seemed to take more time than physically possible. ... canals we were planning to ride would be similar to the ride on the Ille et Rance canal in both scenery and track condition is wet and muddy, and also because I have been adopted by a cold and thought a quieter day out of the cold and wet would be wise.
