... times we purchased tickets we were helped by locals which was great, particularly as I had heard the french could be somewhat rude and unaccommodating. After the train to Versailles we caught a taxi to the hotel so as not to walk an hour with our bags. The hotel is quaint and old fashioned like in a very faulty towers way. I'm half expecting to walk past reception to the sight of Basil Faulty berating poor Manuel.

... When we first arrived at the hotel the assigned room he had wasn't locking properly so the hotel changed his room without telling contiki or changing it on the check in sheet. In the morning he ended up sleeping through his alarm as he came in late around 7am after the taxing couldn't find our hotel he ended up catching the train at 6am. ... a small and shiny brass lock from Australia - with initials engraved! He searches for a special place and attaches the lock - the key now lies at the bottom of the Seine.

Perhaps, one day, one of our grandchildren will come to Paris and search for that little lock!

Day 2 - The One With The Eiffel Tower

... packed and the smell it was torture lol we saw people tucking into plates of snails!
It was now dark so it was nice to see Paris lit up, especially the Eiffel Tower :-)
So we made our way down and got a metro to the Moulin Rouge and had a pint at bar Norm went in when he visited before. They had some live music so had a good vibe. We didn't stay too long as we got the last metro back but I want to go back and see it more in this ...
