After reserving our 6 am train journey to Berlin on Saturday we set foot into central Amsterdam. It was hard to avoid the red light district and the condomeries. However we managed to find some beautiful buildings and canals. We sat by a canal and had lunch (rice cakes again). Although we visited many a cheese shop where Lucy and Katie sampled every single cheese and then we made an exit. Good way to get lunch. Yesterday, we headed off to the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam. This would have been where most Jews lived in the city before WWII. We visited several museums there. The first was the Dutch Resistance Museum. The Nazis setup headquarters in a nearby college and theater. They also appointed a Jewish Council that required all Jews to register with them. The registration card would have had their name, photo and address. ...
