... to see the entire exhibition. The most famous painting in the collection is Rembrandt's "The Night Watch", but our favourite is Vermeer's "The Milkmaid". As well as an extensive collection of Flemish art, there were lots of other artefacts. The blue Delft china was lovely. I was especially taken with the birdcage. Friday brought a new treat for me. The lady I'd rented the apartment from offered to drive me to Volendam (about 70 km away), since there weren't any easy buses or trains for me to take there. ... message at the first petrol station offering free Wifi! After a night at a truckers rest stop, again with wifi and shower, I take the time to visit the town Plovdiv on my way to Sofia. It turns out to be a gem, even selected as the European cultural capital for 2019 and I can see why.
