And then another of those serendipity moments. Along comes a smiling vendor calling out his wares. There are apple and blackcurrant pastries, and a choice of jam, vanilla or chocolate donuts. Oh heaven, thank you Lord!

... on to Slovenia pretty quickly. And it was a great decision as we snaked our way through the mountains, the van coping admirably, with a new stunning vista around each corner. We headed to Bled and a campsite on the lake, but an avalanche of tourists for the Bled festival meant that it was completely full. Near Lake Bled is another gorgeous lake and the largest in Slovenia. Lake Bohinj is nestled right in the middle of the Julian Alps, a chain of mountains that stretches through Slovenia, Italy, and Austria. Before arriving in Slovenia, the only place we knew we wanted to visit for sure was Lake Bled. Seeing pictures and reading about other travellers' experiences led us to this decision.
