... the Melbourne Sea Life Centre. My favourite by far were the penguins - so amusing! But they had some big ***** sharks (Fi - u would have hated it!!) and mantarays. Oh and just a tiny little 6m long salt water croc! A spot of lunch later and we met Sid for a visit to the Skydeck. Mark took great pleasure in winding me up in the rainforest exhibit at the sea life centre about the stupid bleeding spiders, so my sympathy for his shaking legs ...

... arranged a half day trip out to Phillip Island to see the "Little Penguin Parade". This was just about the CUTEST thing I have ever seen. We went by bus out to the island (a 2 hour drive) and arrived about an hour before dusk. We ate a dinner of fish and chips at the visitors center and then walked down the boardwalk to the viewing stands, where we waited and waited as it got darker and darker. Finally, the "parade" began. ... this situation is that the actual residents of the house just seemed very indifferent to our existence. It was welcoming but not welcoming at the same time. We learned a LOT of new games there. ... went for a walk along the beach and then headed down the main Street which is a busy street packed with shops, bars and cafés! We stopped for a hot drink and a piece of cake now it was an incredibly hard choice as the cake shops all looked amazing the windows were full of a massive selection of cakes. ... as it was close to my relatives in the Essendon area. At $46 a night, I was a bit disappointed that we were on dirt. There were heaps of empty bays with grass or hard floors, but maybe it was because we weren't Big 4 members!!! They did give us seniors discount though as the normal full rate is $50. We were also directly under some huge power lines, so I don't think I'd be comfortable staying there long term. All in all, it was very clean, staff were friendly and ...
