... possible so that all of us who didn't understand a lot of Italian could still follow what was going on and be entertained. Still, I was glad I looked up the show on wikipedia beforehand or I probably would have missed a lot. All in all, I recommend it for people who have never done opera before, but I probably wouldn't bring kids unless they could understand Italian.

... Sausage and dumplings for dinner next to the famous astrological clock tower was more than relaxing. It seems to me this place has it all. Plenty of history, views, and people filling every street. I never thought I would like a city so unpopular to the common traveler. Andrew and I went to Mass early Sunday morning and didn't understand a word the entire time, but it still felt no different than church at home. ...

Walter tried his best this morning to have us out of the apartment before the queue became too long to view the clock tower in the central square. It was to be another lovely day and viewing prospects were good. So we postponed breakfast for some exercise climbing stairs. We were pleasantly surprised to find no stairs but an elevator and ramp to take us to the top. This activity was followed by a tour of four of the city's oldest houses or city halls ...

... have one beer before getting the taxi back and according to his story, just as he was walking to find a taxi, he saw them walking on the street - and his night began from there. ... we zipped through that one quickly. The Powder Tower held weapons as well as displaying a rather macabre torture chamber. As usual the highlight for me was yet another cathedral and I make no apology. I have posted pics of more striking stained glass, impressive archways and anything else that struck me as memorable.
