    The Cake Route

Aptly named, this mostly flat route has the bonus of stopping at a well-known restaurant for fantastic cakes at the midpoint. I'll be honest, while it was nice to be back on the bike again, visiting the shop and seeing how much pride the creator of these goodies had with her wares... And the joy in parsing them up for people to consume was a close second. Did I mention that at 95km in length, this ...

... According to 'See Mallorca': The journey to Sa Calobra is as memorable as the bay itself. A twisting road around Puig Major plunges 800m in just 12km, turning 270 degrees at one point to loop under itself (a feature known as the 'Knotted Tie'). A much better and easier approach is by boat from Port de Soller, passing genuinely isolated bays with an excellent view of Puig Major, albeit spoilt by the military installations on the summit of Mallorca's ...

A couple hills and a coffee stop, not much to report today aside from another lovely day of riding. We passed many an almond tree, one of Mallorca's key products along with lemons, oranges and apricots. The coffee stop in Bunyola coincided with their feast day for their patron Saint Mateu. Song, dance, piñata-like activities for the kids, and a a parade through town with bagpipes for all the villagers was quite the sight, and it looked like everyone was ...

... day ensuring that our anchor wasn't dragging and that we stayed will clear of “tina” a nice looking boat on a mooring beside us.

Late afternoon we took the dinghy and went wandering around the town. For a resort it has a lovely atmosphere. Found supermarkets which is always a good thing.

... now, except there's a couple of holes in the sail which we need to fix.
So after checking the weather etc., we decided that we would stay another night at this anchorage. A lot less boats from the previous night and it looks like we'll have this tributary to ourselves and the cicadas.

Enjoying this spot alot. Stayed another day – did some more snorkeling and even saw an octopus in its own natural habitat – cool!
