... We arrived fresh and fed to take on Dubrovnik. Wade, who is a Game of Thrones aficionado, wanted to do the GoT tour since evidently some of the scenes are filmed here. I say evidently, since I wouldn't know...Most of you likely know about my (non-existent) relationship with television. Having said all that, I'm happy to report that the tour was actually informative....we learned about the history of Dubrovnik as well as interesting ...

... get pretty drunk polishing off the alcohol and developing their Croatian accents. They make plans to climb the castle walls if she ever awakens.

As sunset approaches, they finally head up the infamous castle walls. The bay is surrounded by impressive tree-covered mountains that go right to the sea. The tiny town of Kotor is another walled city with prehistoric (possibly 2500 yrs ago) roots. The ancient city was also a victim of the earthquake that devastated Dubrovnik in 1667. It destroyed 50% of Kotor ...

... anyone's passports or anything. Croatia is so beautiful, pretty much just after we crossed the border the scenery changed and the rest of the drive was right along the coast spotted with gorgeous beaches and little towns. We have rooms of 3 and the hotel is a bit run down but it's right across the road from the beach and restaurants/bars etc. When we got settled and found an ATM we went for a drink right over the water with the ...

On Thursday, 5/15, we went to Kruja, Albania, to see the Skanderbeg museum. Skanderbeg was a hero of Albania fighting against the Ottomans in the 15th century and the castle in Kruja was the center of resistance until the Ottomans finally won and ruled for 500 years. The street leading to the castle perched on a hill is filled with shops selling all manner of things and there is not much left of the castle, but the ...
