... been turned into a pedestrian square with more cafes than you can shake a stick at. I suspect that the palace itself is not quite in original condition either, but it is still said to be one of the most imposing Roman ruins in existence. ... the picnic spot. We parked near an old cemetary (even the cemetaries are beautiful here). We stopped at a shady spot up from the sea and rocky edge. The picnic was artfully laid out by Lada on a blanket.There were cheeses, several meats, olives, pickles, cucumber salad, tuna salad, green salad, breadbasket, fruit and chocolate. ... Butchers Bridge' which was full of padlocks.. it was pretty cool. We also saw 'The Three Bridges' and posted our first postcard to Gran! We then got the train to Zagreb and waited for the night train in the station, in our pyjamas. Got on the night train and luckily found a cabin to ourselves, as we didn't reserve a bed. ... kind of broke into various Bon jovi songs; we weren"t exactly in-tune and can just imagine what the other people on the trail thought! When we got down from the fortress we all got icecream because it was like 35 degrees and no wind.
