        ... for the night. We arrived early enough is this ancient, quaint town, to take a guided walk around the town, as the sun was setting. This island is the reputed birthplace of Marco Polo, in 1254. The Italians would disagree, as they claim he was born in Venice.

        ... to the gorgeous medieval Benedictine monastary of St. Stephen Under the Pines or Sv. Stipan pod Borovima; hence Sustipan. This is not the 1968 original but still an attractive site for the wedding and reception being setup in its shadow.

        Finally, we experience the local beaches of Split, after a morning walk to the coast yields a vast stretch of "pebbled" beaches. After a refreshing swim in the warm Adriatic waters, it's back into town for Roses hair appointment. I spend the next four hours exploring the markets and actually doing some shopping before finally meeting up with Rose for cocktails on the coast and a sunset swim at an isolated beach hidden in the nearby national park.
