For the next two days we took full advantage of a hire car not only to explore the island but to do the official "check in" stuff, replenish the stores, gas bottles and generally catch up on jobs.

Lanzarote is famous for it's lava fields, volcano,and the artist Cezar Manrique who had a huge influence on how the island has developed, both architecturally and commercially. It is dry and generally barren but does boast an amazing wine ...

... place seemed impossibly crowded with boats both on anchor and moorings. Quite a ramshackle sort of place but with the promise of "there is always room for one more" we finally settled in after three attempts to get some sort of hold on a suspect bottom.

We were disappointed however to find that we could not get water or fuel. Checking in and gas were possible but the walk was considerably daunting.

Hi Lou,

Taboo & crew safe and sound tied up at the beautiful Rubicon Marina, Lanzarote.

Our 13 day journey came to a sunny end on the fantastic island of Lanzarote at 9am local time on 7 April 2011. A much deserved slap up meal & a celebratory mojito followed and then, sadly Jon & Cecily were off to the airport to head back to glamorous Gatwick.
