... from Lake Viñuela , 30km from Cómpeta, to collect water. The fire planes land on the water and scoop up a plane load to dump on a specified area and the helicopters literally “dangle a bucket” to to the same. Apparently sometimes for smaller fires, they raid nearby swimming pools !

I also had to upload them all to my computer—Kevan is having us shoot in JPG and in RAW, so there are double the amount of photos plus they take up a lot of memory—and copy the 8 (best) to a thumb drive to bring to the meeting at 7:00 PM.

... Competa. When we get there, I suggest to the others that we should stop to eat our remaining sandwiches - only to find that I'm the only one who's got a sandwich still left - so they're having to sit there twiddling their thumbs while I'm happily munching! It's a hard grind down the Barranco Melero as it's been a long day (about eight and a half hours by the time we're back at the car), but a trip up Lucero is always worth the effort involved.

... the rest is rocky, much like Nice but the boardwalk the whole way makes for a perfect alternative. Today we headed west as far as we could including a steep climb to the Peñon del Santo, a high point which gives a great view of all the surrounding area.
