... two Starbuck’s since leaving the U.S. The first was in the Harry Potter Studios and the second in the Valencia airport on our recent trip. Sitting in that Starbucks, with its design, its signage, its music, its mugs for sale and its soy lattes, one could really be ANYWHERE. It’s like being removed from Spain and dropped into some caffeinated neutral zone with biscotti.

Can't believe it's already October 1! Happy Fall!

Last day... Despite not being at school, I think we had to get up even earlier today! We met with Lisa and Andrea and took a taxi to Santa Ponsa to meet John. From there, we began our boat trip to the island of Dragonera, near the north west coast of Majorca. We practised telephone conversations and played Taboo in Spanish which I think was a very useful way of practicing what we had learnt - and was good fun (no Lucking cheating tactics allowed!). At the end of the lesson, I was handed my certificate -140 hours of lessons! My progress is apparently just higher than a GCSE in Spanish - so nowhere near fluent, but not bad for 7 ...

... day as a lot of seaweed had blown in and made the water look a bit black! It was still good for swimming and the waves made it fun. We didn't explore too far from where we parked the car... Which might not have been such a bad idea, as apparently various parts of the beach are for different "customers"... We were in a quite normal section although did get a few shocks when not concentrating or focussing properly! In the evening, we met with Lisa ...

So the last day of our holiday.. we again had breakfast downstairs at the hostel and then packed up all our bags, put on our togs, vacated our rooms and went back to the beach.

We hired more deck chairs and umbrellas and then made ourselves most at home for the day. I think the only time we left the beach was to get ice cream and George and I went for lunch at a tapas place.

      I even had a ...
