... would be a fun spot to visit for sight-seeing and shopping. We decided to try walking there to soak up the sun and the city so we set out on foot. After a few wrong turns, we found the road we needed! Several blocks down we found ourselves in front of a cute café offering pitchers of sangria for just 9 Euro. Yes Please! Our sangria came with a bowl of yummy crunchy things – so we sat on the patio sipping the yummy fruity wine, nibbling and chit-chatting about the rest of our time ...

We catch the Metro to the Sagrada Familia, Antonio Gaudi's famous cathedral, that is still being built even though it was started over 100 years ago. Despite all the cranes and scaffolding it's still a sight ...

... I stayed with them again 3 years later when I came back to France, this time for the whole summer. By then they had moved to a house in a small village an hour outside Paris, and had given birth to a pair of twin girls and a little boy - 2 years old and 6 months old respectively when I arrived in 1988.

The best laid plans notwithstanding - I was very sure I'd visit France again soon and often - the next time I saw Laurence and Bernard was on July ...

... me that he had no desire to wait in the line. We took a few steps away and then spotted an entrance to the gift shop. We wandered in, partly because I thought seeing some prints would be better than not seeing anything at all and partly because we hoped that there might be a a little side entrance left unguarded that we might be able to slip into. We looked around trying to appear unsuspicious and at one point I thought we had gotten through but, unfortunately, it turned out to be a ...
