... car, we've travelled 2100 km through the most gorgeous villages. The stone cottages are stunning, the vege gardens are inspiring and the people friendly and tolerant of our attempts to speak French.
In case you are interested, petrol costs about 1.59 Euros per litre ($2.40) but our Citroen is using 6 L/100km - not bad!!
We are looking forward to a week in a gite near the Mediterranean where hopefully the weather will be sunny and I can do some cooking again.
... I envisaged on our trip around Spain. I have to remember that we are at 1400 metres so I guess it is to be expected.
Saturday 31st May
It was overcast and cool this morning but not to be deterred we set off to the Sant Maurici Lake at the head of the valley. Initially the path took us through pastureland and we passed a shepherd complete with his crook, his dog and his flock of sheep.

... into town a long the R Ariege and find the Old Town, where the fair was apparently continuing
As we set off the rain stopped but it was still quite chilly. The river flows past the campsite and through the town. Swollen with snow melt it is one of the fastest flowing rivers we have seen.

As we negotiated the one way system it became obvious there was some sort of Fair or procession going on, with bands and a group of men in long costumes with banners, followed by people on horseback.- and guess what ended up at the Tail End of the parade - a great big white motorhome!!
