I seriously think this stuff only happens to me.

... and completely clear. And they were sand beaches -- not rocks like in Italy. I found a big rock that hung out a bit over the water and sunned there for awhile with my normal clothes still on. Not knowing if the sea experiences tides and freaking myself out that I'd get stuck on the rock I headed back to the sand. It was so nice and warm I decided to go full on and don the bathing suit. A great idea that would have been made better if I had thought to bring a towel. Argh!

El Cabo de Gata, Andalusia, Spain josiezim

You South American folks are good people.

I am on my way to Cabo de Gata from Granada. I, as usual, didn't do diligent enough research and so ended up in Almeria with a 4 hour layover. Normally I would be ecstatic about this as that is plenty of time to drop my bags at the station, roam around on a city bus and get a feel for one more Spanish city. However. Almeria doesn't believe in baggage drops at the station. In an "I am Josie. I am American." moment, I walked to a hotel to leave my bags there. No. Neither being ...

a day of driving...

... with plastic td greenhouses that grow fruits and vegetables. You can not find a single area that doesn't have a plastic greenhouse. The mountains are very dry and rocky. We stopped in a town called Almerimar for lunch - a fishing village and big windsurfing and water sport area. The town has a marina and yacht club. There were tons of boats in the marina, but the town was pretty well shutdown for the winter. Only a handful of cafes were open. It was pretty quiet. We ...

Day 46: Death of the innocent goat.

... the day from Olly: "We came down here to see what it would be like to sleep here Chris. We the discovered its the kind of place that goats get brutally masacred. Therefore, Its not a good place to sleep, is it." Despite Ollys compelling arguement the thing that changed my mind was the sketchy guy the kept cycling near us. When he returned with more friends to look at us I thought F**k this, lets do some night riding. The decision was further reinforced when we left because we ...

Back to San Jose

Returned to San Jose. Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!

Trip to Mini-Hollywood

I decided to rent a car for my last couple of days at San Jose, so took the bus into Almeria. Although there is an excellent integrated bus/train station there, Airport buses go from elsewhere!! So I went looking for the bus-stop, found a man who directed me half-a mile down the road. As I walked to the bus-stop, the Airport bus went by! Got to the bus-stop and had to wait 45 minutes for the next one. It's first stop was just by where the man had directed me... so I'd ...

Much Beyond the Sea Monsters

... again and feasted on superb swordfish. Our clock was ticking though. Our beast of burden, The Wilson Wagon, had one week left on its lease. So we sped off to Granada and the Alhambra. The Alhambra is a hilltop palace - fortress overlooking Granada with a history spanning more than 800 years. It is the finest example of Moorish architecture in Spain. There are countless halls, chambers and courtyards and an infinite number of mosaics and tiles ...

Granada

... we had tea the previous afternoon. Thus fortified we headed for the Alhambra. The rain and cold were still with us but we plodded dutifully up the hill overlooking the city and soggily entered the grounds in the wrong place. We then had another bloody mile to walk to get our tickets. Anarchy was invented by the Spanish and is still alive and kicking in the ticket office at the Alhambra. It is a large covered building, but no more than 4 people at a time were allowed in ...

Voyage Perpignan-Nador

On y arrive à 23h30, heure locale. 109980km au compteur.
