      ... becomes more of a marvel.
      I left Biella yesterday for the first time. All by myself. On a train. The key thing to remember is 'Don't Stress, Don't Panic' and all will be good and dandy.
      I met with Ellen at the station with the australian way of finding someone-stick your hand up and start yelling- it worked wonders.
      It was beautiful in Milano, very big, very elaborate. Especially the Duomo! The only way i can describe it is very pointy.

      ... speak very fast and very loud and i kind of just stand there looking into oblivion because i have no idea what's going on. I'm starting to pick up bits and pieces, but it's all so confusing to me.

      Another cold night followed by sunshine.After breakfast we walked for a few kilometres along the shores of the lake. By 9.30 we were on the road, we stopped at one of the lakeside villages.       ... however, the surrounding countryside is pretty - vineyards everywhere and distant snow covered mountains. We detoured to Desenzano on the banks of Lake Garda. Clearly a summer holiday town but a beautiful town situated on the shores of a huge lake. The water is crystal clear. Lunch at local trattoria consisting of local trout - scrumptious, a walk around town, purchase of veggies and fruit from local markets and off to the autostrada. ...

      Mimma picked us up and drove us to Mercallo for Mass. She drives the narrow byways without fear , firm resolve, no hesitation. There are six traffic circles between Gallarate and Mercallo and by number three I figured that if we died at least it was on the way to church. The church overlooks Mercallo, 100 years ago Martin and Victoria were married at that altar, and we lit two candles for Salinas and Bodesteiners everywhere ,and our friends.
