Yep you guessed it! and early morning start! left Wellington hotel at about 4am and flew to a town called Alice Springs via Sydney.
Alice Springs is a a funny wee place, gateway to central Australia and the Outback and of course the great Aussie icon Uluru or known by many a white fella as Ayers Rock. We were there there to meet up with our tour group to do a 5day 4 night 4 wheel drive safari round the area with Wayoutback desert Safaris.

That's the pits because it's a shame to pass up something because you don't think you can get it in your suitcase.
There were some muscial interludes along the mall as well. Two young boys were working hard at their ...

We had come to the part of our trip where it was imperative we launder our clothes or there would have been an international incident.
I think we made our wishes known to our hotel that we had to find a laundromat. At that point in my life, I thought every country had coin operated laundries for those not fortunate to have their own washer and dryer. We gathered up our laundry ...

Animals such as kangaroos can dig a few feet down, wait a couple of minutes and water will fill the hole. So why would they dig a hole when small lakes are nearby you ask...a pack of dingos can corner them at the lakes and these small holes can be dug behind cover with 365 degree escape routes. An aquifer under this entire vast area feeds all the plants and wildlife. In fact ...

All but one bolted, and after curiously watching me a few seconds, the remaining furball flipped me off. I told myself, "No he didn't just flip me off." But yes he did. Seriously, he raised his paw and gave me the middle finger salute three times. Whenever I would move a little closer that little bag of fleas would ...

Firstly it is not a hill it’s a bloody mountain- with ****** make shift steps. Our guide told us the best way to get over the first hurdle is by walking straight to the top & not to stop, because as soon as you stop walking you start cramping up (great!). I was not looking forward to it. Anyway we started the walk at 12pm-ish & the ...

Nico found a blokes magazine in the laundry block, so we all had a laugh looking at the special article of 'Jelly Wrestling in 3D!'. Its hilarious to see a middle-aged woman wearing 3D glasses and zooming a page in and out trying to focus on jelly covered boobs! Ah, the things we get up to on a campsite, eh?!

I spent most of my time in the Indigenous culture section and at the exhibit of current Indigenous sculptures featur8inmg works in all media – they were both excellent and some really moving stories in relation to the Stolen Generation – shaming that white European ‘Christian’ society thought it appropriate to remove "half- caste” children in order to bring them up as European settings -yes ...
Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia spoonski... us round yesterday for a big 'Dutch' meal (she's originally Brabant, near Nico, but married an Aussie sheep-shearer about 15 years ago and now lives on Kangaroo Island). We had meatballs and Nasi-Goreng, plus lots of beer, and we even invited the new neighbours over from the other side of our pitch, as they were Dutch aswell! Bless good neighbours, eh?!
