... sun shines and of course I will have brought all the wrong clothes! As I said, within 15 minutes we were whisked off for tea, then a walk to the local supermarket and a coffee in their favourite cafe, then a walk down to the beach, then back to their place for a meal - pork in tomato sauce with mushrooms and lots of veg. - and wine and port! All very pleasant. And ...
... into the rocks below us! (Mom pretend you didn't read that). We also went down to this point where you were almost level with the water, and there was a small platform where you could stand and get a really good shot of the rock arches! It's a good thing the view was so beautiful, because we had to climb up about a million stairs to get back to the trail! We made our way back to the hostel later that evening and made ourselves delicious stir ...
... Pitch Perfect on a projector in the living room. It was a perfect way to end the day. The next day we decided to do the other half of the beaches and we went a different way so they would meet in the middle! We had to climb along the edge of the cliffs, go down spiral stairs and my goodness not look down. It was so freaky but so exhilarating. It's such untouched beauty that I don't see enough of. Our hostel was so great and was like a house remodeled into a hostel. The ...
... to the majestic, red cliffs. Heavy erosion did indeed call for a lot of up and down hiking. 2 hours later, staring upwards at at a cliff that to me required mountain climbing gear to scale, I declared that it was time to walk along the surf. Walk we did. I allowed the crashing waves to cool my barking dogs with salt water that was not icy at all. We were now one town away from the outskirts of Albufeira, but up ahead I could see waves hitting rocks, with no ...
What a great day yesterday! 5 of us met in the lobby at 9:00, then to the bus stop East, to the town of Vilamaura. This lovely village seems totally designed for biking. Extremely flat, every street has clearly defined bike lanes, as well as bike lanes everywhere. We picked up are reserved bikes at the harbour, for 13 euros, for the day. We pedalled East along the promenade, through to the next town, Quinteiros, for miles. So picturesque. After a while we ran out of road. ...

Wish we were there.
August 2005 will be my 7th visit to the Alfagar and enjoyed every visit, looking forward to seeing Carlos and Manuel again. Can't wait.
The Alfagar apartments were great. My friend and I spent two weeks here and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
Can't wait to go back
Checked Tripadvisor for recommendations on Alfagar, they were not wrong. It is a great resort really relaxing and in a fantastic location. The staff were very helpful to us and our Apartment was stunning.
Check out the Restaurant there it is one of the best we have had on holiday yet.
Just as the brochure shows, beautiful place. Good spacious & clean apartment. Friendly staff.
Just home from a two week break at this complex. Thoroughly enjoyable.....accommodation was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Onsite facilities cater well for the ideal family break. Bar/ food restaurant highly recommended! Pools clean and well maintained. Definately will return and use same complex.
My whole family really rated this place. The complex was attractive, clean and well situated.
I have 2 very small kids, so can't vouch for the evening entertainment, the restaurant or 25 minute walks into town, but everything else was as good as I could expect.
We frequently return to the alfagar
great accommodation, great location, not for teenagers but more for families or those who enjoy 'that little bit better@
About 25 mins walk to the Strip down a long hill, which makes a long uphill journey back! Watch out for the maids they knock on your door at 9.00am to clean, watch out for the bloke who cleans up at the poolside at 7.am he drags the sunbeds around for about an hour! The reception staff speak v.good english and are very helpful. The onsite entertainment is crap and the restuarant is very expensive. The supermarket is well stocked and you can buy just anything you want.
Went on holiday with 4 kids and dreading it. Had a fantastic time at the Alfagar. Staff were great, apartment was the same and the location even better. Right on the beach so you could walk there if you needed to - but with the pools on the complex there was no need. Never saw the children unless it was feeding time - pools for all capabilites, play area and games room - what more could a parent want! Within walking distance of The Strip - then with a rest and a drink The Old Town - it is ideally located.
