    ... should patients have to be transfered between buildings. There were garden areas, helpful for those recuperating from an illness. At the time, Montaner was more renowned than Gaudi but the intervening century has changed that public perspective.

    ... comes from taking the subway while in a strange city - you feel less like a tourist and more like a local.  For a moment (on your way to a tourist site - ha!) you can pretend to be one of them.  I think my plan of dressing in mostly black in Europe to blend in is working because THREE times people came up to me asking me for assistance (twice in Spanish).  I will take that as a compliment.   Sagrada Familia - the masterpiece of Gaudi's legacy. ...

    She looked at me like I was crazy, and to be honest, I don't blame her. I had let my frustrations spill over to some stranger. But. I'm okay with that.

    ... they were on board. You really didn't need to announce it, we all took notice of you when you can strutting into the gate area with your rather distasteful choice of clothing. I had a Spanish man next to me and we fell into a funny conversation me speaking English and German hoping he understands one of the two which he didn't. It was fun and challenging to try and communicate that he needed to stand up like pronto so I can get out before my bladder goes bust in me! ...

    ... and catenary arches, like exposed ribs, to provide strength using less materials and the concept of openess. Over 2 hours spent exploring this wonderful building. We walked home thru the high end shopping district, and had the concierge book dinner for us. Had pre dinner drinks "at home" before walking along the waterfront on a beautiful Spanish evening, not a breath of air, lovely harbour setting, light was magic. Got lost, but found our way. Really classy ...
