Back to an educational day! Today we met our driver and our tour guide to head to Kronos place and head up to the birth place of Zeus. First to the palace. This is a Minoan palace that was 4000 years old. It was amazing to see the art, pottery that had been discovered. It was also impressive how peaceful (they had no warriors) of a people they were and also how advanced. They has piping and a septic system. We also got to sit ...

It was a lovely spot to cool off and watch the sea and ...

Fourth of July In Crete with no fire works :( Today we drove from Chania to Heraklion to our new hotel. The drive took two hour through some beautiful country side that reminded us of California, but without all of the people. Once we got into Heraklion we saw a man pull off a no sign and start yelling at another man in Greek (referendum vote is tomorrow). Other than that, we have seen very little of the referendum besides signs ...

... a trip to the east coast and another night in Heraklion. But in truth I'm pretty relieved to be heading back. Crete has been a blast, but I'm looking forward to some downtime.

Involuntary eavesdropping: an English couple next to me on the ferry apparently had to leave their rental car in port (as opposed to the rental office). They're now arguing about... something. Traveling alone has its downsides, the most obvious being the lack of someone or some people with whom to ...
