The tires stop and I tumble up to the southeast ridge of Mountain Gardens to set up camp. First, I meet Peter, an arborist who says Leavenworth Canyon has some spectacular climbing. It is 9am, the moon is sliced in half and a waterfall through the forest runs on uninterrupted by my presence and somehow doesn't run out. "This place is a time warp" I was told a month ago. I need a watch.
