I left Methoni on the 8.30 am bus which took me as far as Isthmus. You can't buy the ticket at Methoni so must make a quick exit at Pylos to the ticket office at the bus stop, or buy in advance of course.

This time the trip was via Kalamata where there was a short and very welcome break before the trip on to Tripolis and Isthmus.

At Isthmus I had only to wait about 10 minutes before the local bus took me ...

... the town and along by the harbour where there are a few tavernas and restaurants. I ate at one opposite the port - a hearty meal, as my salad was quickly augmented by various extras including a desert.

I looked for signs of the recession in Greece. Yes there were some shops empty, and many places advertised for rent, but that is often the case out of season. ...

Following the weekend on Paros, I was keen to check out another Greek island. We decided to take the ferry to Aegina, the nearest island to Athens.

Just boarding the ferry was quite an experience, standing right by the water waiting for the inevitably late boat and then being crushed in the stampede to get on board. Following my previous experiences of Greek ferries I knew we had to find seats quickly!

... de trás da praia. Muito bonzinho, simples, mas limpo e tem tudo que se necessita para uma noite. Mas o que o prejudica muito - creio que todos os hoteis devem passar por este apuro -: năo tem estacionamento. E a rua é super estreita e passa carro a cada segundo. Ou seja, nem para tirar as malas do carro vocę consegue parar. Uma loucura... No final, Marco me deixou com as malas na calçada e saiu correndo procurar um lugar. Desagradável. Mas enfim... acabou ...
