I took a fairly short walk around the inside of the Basilica and then went out to find Connie, Frances and Grant all huddled in area of the wall of pillars. I was happy to hear that Connie had blasted tons of photos of the inside of this magnificent structure. By now it was around 3:30pm and we decided to find a café where we could get some refreshments and perhaps a Gelato for Connie. After a stroll through some back roads leading away ...

... us there was a Metro stop at the top of the steps so we did'nt have to go back down.
When it was time to leave Rome, we headed to the airport for our 6 am flight only to find out that there were major strikes happening in Greece and our flight was delayed by 3 hrs. Our blog photo is of John entertaining himself at the airport.
Off to Greece (but you'll have to wait for the blog update cuz we are ready to leave the internet ...

... at the station and grab a couple drinks. Yeah our breakfast was beers. I think we had too much to drink in the morning because we didn't leave our table until 10 minutes before the train left. We still hadn't figured out what track it was on and we were seriously like taking our sweet ass time.

We had to ask a conductor to point us to our track and instantly motioned to start running which meant our train was about to leave. We started to run with our luggage ...

... his talk. We finished at 4pm.
Unfortunately I (along with others) still had to go to Termini to get a train ticket for this weekend (that's a story for tomorrow).....and, of course, when we left Termini to go home we waited 45 minutes for a bus before I put my foot down and we got a cab......the buses were practicing for the strike evidently......so that's how we ended up in an air-conditioned cab. Best 5 Euros I spent this week.

Getting to our room requires four keys: front door of the complex, then the monastery, the residential section, and the room. On my second day in Europe, I enjoy walking up the steps past a couple staring at the facade, ostentatiously pulling out my keys and opening the front gate. I refrain from looking back.
