... noticed looking at the river on a map is that it doesn't curve and twist and turn like the Mississippi does. I don't see any oxbow lakes. I wonder why that is.

We stopped in Alexandria Bay, NY and took a 2-1/2 hour cruise in the 1000 Islands area of the river, just before the river joins Lake Ontario.

All the usual stuff you do to get ready for a trip. Lots of lists especially passwords etc. Charging up all the gadgets: Kindles, Samsung Tablet, iPad...........but no cell phones. ... do get to see the photos of it later. At Iroquois we diverted again (which is usually what happens on these scenic diversions) to look at the lock that allows large ships through. There was also a barrier system that controls the depth of the water levels of Lake Ontario. Sometimes these diversions come off. We were also surprised to see people fishing out on the river through holes they'd cut through the ice. Further up river the road became The Thousands Islands Parkway. ...
