... het werd later en later, geen motel te bekennen.Het werd donker en later. Uiteindelijk kwamen we in een dorpje otorohanga en daar vonden we een motel. De eigenaar was erg vriendelijk bleek ook nog een hollander te zijn die in 1961 naar Nieuw Zeeland was gegaan. Wat waren we opgelucht. Vanwege de tijd was alleen Mc Donald nog open. Dus voor de tweede keer deze week een hambi gegeten. Maar goed. Eten en een bed, het maakte ons niet meer uit. Nu maar hopen dat morgen de auto start.

... preparing the cheapest possible meals, steak was on the menu this evening. We spent the evening exchanging pleasantries, making silly speeches and reflecting on our trip in general, all while enjoying a bottle of sparkling wine. It was a fitting end to our time staying in hostels and living the life of backpackers: the following morning, we headed back to Auckland on our final coach trip, for our final days in New Zealand before heading home.
