We had an early start to beat the heat and the crowds and headed to St Peter's Basilica, which was about a 7 minute walk from our apartment.

It felt like we had St Peter's Piazza to ourselves and it only took 5 minutes to get through the scanners and inside.

We were a bit put out as we had all dressed in long trousers and longer sleeved tops only to find people inside with knee length shorts and tops that barely covered the shoulders, so much for strict dress ...

... as I caught the sight of the van riding up the side of the Fiat. There were ooo’s and aahh’s from all the tourist spectators. The man who nearly flipped his van immediately jumped out and sprinted to the other side of the car. He pulled out two small crying girls and my entertainment suddenly turned into sadness for the terrified little girls.

... through the Spanish steps, the Via dei Condotti, the Corso and the Piazza Venezia. I should really start charging people for my help....I am the only one who speaks Italian, has any idea how to get around Rome, or has travelled around Italy.
