We are back at the AKA. Our fifth visit. Another great room, although different to last time. There's a new gym, new lounge area but our friends from our past five visits staffing the front door and desk. It's great to be back.

Superbe appartement dans une rue agréable, tout près de Times Square et Broadway. Personnel très aimable et serviable.
Petit bémol, la vaisselle est réduite à son strict minimum.

After what seemed like an eternity, well maybe 28 hours, we made it to out home away from home, the AKA, in NYC.

Just off Times Square, this little piece of bliss away from the hustle and bustle is perfect. We made it to our room at around 1.30am and pretty much collapsed into bed. 30 nights of NYC ahead of us. Let the adventure begin, …

Friday night was fun and Saturday spent doing a variety of things, mostly nothing. Shopping, a little meandering and generally soaking up NYC. The 911 memorial and museum was visited by few and from all accounts awesome. Dinner at Mortons last night and a couple of photos attached. We have now officially started the handbag category for each blog. …

... burly NY policemen sauntered up, the crowd moaned disappointedly and everyone melted away.

Walking, walking, walking, we covered more territory searching for a bookshop we'd visited last time. Giving up we went to John's Pizzeria on West 44th Street, but there was an hour wait for a seat, so we went off to try other fields. On 8th Avenue, Il Forno looked a likely place and it was.
It was cute and Roman- looking, and their pizzas were lovely. ...

... of my family and friends somewhere watching me, cheering and hoping for me to do well. It motivated me to keep running and to not let anyone down. It also helped track time because my watch lost signal...not cool...likely to the thousands using GPS that day. Thank you NYRR for those clocks!!! In addition I some how managed to pause my watch for a few miles without noticing....not cool either...oh well.

Entering Queens I think was my favorite probably because someone ...

... quickly and get out the door and we are mostly successful, arriving at the Empire State at about 10 past 8. Already there is a line, albeit a short one. We laugh at all the roped-off lanes awaiting unsuspecting tourists who have the audacity to arrive after the ungodly hour of say....9am. Despite our early start, true to form, we have to queue. This is one of the most frustrating things we have found about America, NY in particular- they are poor crowd managers. Absolutely no-one here ...
