... much the scope of the day, got to go, my book is calling me. -- Tali A rather disappointing end to the hike - with the pouring rain and poor visibility up the mountain, it made no sense to attempt today's walk. Instead we took our time in the hotel and had a relaxing breakfast and packed up our backpacks for the last time. ...

As the day was supposed to be a pleasant hike (14km, 2500ft) and feeling bad about missing the Fenetre d'Arpette the day before, we bumped into some fellow travellers who said they were heading to the col de Balme as well but rather were going via the Chalet de glacier. It was a bit of a bugger considering we won't have time tomorrow as we are at CERN all day. Instead, we went next door to a nice Italian place. I had an awesome risotto, and many of the others got other fantastic looking pasta dishes and pizzas.

... in subsequent days. This is a holiday for all abilities and some of the others returned after 3 hours, either taking a longer route or going slower and enjoying more of the scenery. This run follows part of Le Belier mountain race route, which takes place in La Clusaz in August. As with the previous mountain run, the steep descents are uncontrollably fast and give your legs a real pounding. For experienced trail runners, ...
