... being refurbished the benches used as seating were cleaned and 50 gallons of chewing gum were found stuck to the underneath! We expected to see a hole in the stage where the "circle of life" was cut out and rehoused in the Grand Ole Oprey! It was a very factual day, and some facts and figures have gone over my head but this is the basics of the beginning of the Nashville music scene as we know it today. We are off tomorrow to Memphis for another type of ...

... if you like country music you will know what it is ( a round piece of wooden floor boards from the original stage ). Afterwards we had to decide what to do. If we had driven back to where we are staying, it would have been time to come go back again,so we went to the Mall, no shopping just window shopping to pass the time. (Tennessee is a dry state so you can only buy from a liqueur store which is easier said than done.) We ended up doing a ten mile round trip just to buy the wine! We came back to be greeted again by Erle and his friend Maurice( pronounced the French way) having poured our wine in polystyrene ...

... dinner at The Claim Jumper restaurant. (Good!) I carried George from the car to the Opry for his photo shoot at 6:30.  I think he's going to show up in a few other people's vacation photo albums!  He's pretty quiet about what kind of music he likes but he thought the big guitar was neat, even though it wasn't the Hard Rock. That's about all folks. If you're ever in Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry is definitely THE thing to do.  You might want to avoid CMA Fest week ...

Hit the BP station in Metropolis, IL randomly and the boys were excited to find out that it's Superman's hometown. Even the gas station had these sweet cutouts to pose with. They want to collect stickers from all of the states as we travel so we were able to get a fun one. As we travel further south the people seem to get more polite. Less fashionable perhaps but definitely kinder and more considerate. Made it to Kentucky!!! ...
