It was a short train ride and before we knew it (or I guess finished the movie Frozen) we were in Glasgow! Luckily it wasnt raining so we were able to find our hostel without too many difficulties, especially since it was so close to the train station. We spent the rest of the day walking around the main city centre of Glasgow.

... reasons including: 1: Did I mention it was FREEZING COLD outside?! 2: Football (including "soccer", rugby union, rugby league) 3: it was warm (closely related to reason 1!!) 4: to sample the local brews (beers and whiskies)...which is all about supporting the local economy!! ... the disposable cutlery is wooden and so beautifully made I have brought a knife and fork home to frame, and we felt we had done our duty by Edinburgh and it was time to go somewhere entirely different, to Glasgow.

Another of these strange railways anomalies: you can only travel from Leuchars to Glasgow via Edinburgh, you can book a return from Leuchars to Edinburgh, which allows you to go on Saturday and return on Sunday, but you CAN'T book a return from Edinburgh ...

... of hits the blog has had, and thanks for all the comments and feedback.

All that said, it's only 158 days until we head back out to NYC to start part 2 of the trip which is Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and finishing up in Lisbon, Portugal. We still have a bit if planning and booking to do for this part but we have a fairly clear idea of our itinerary.
