A more relaxed start today as we left Orleans about 10am for Chateau de Chambord. This chateau is huge compared to others like Chenonceau. The buildings are located on a massive estate of 5440ha that is surrounded by a national park. There are 426 rooms, 282 fireplaces and 77 staircases. Not all the rooms are open for viewing, otherwise we ...

All the villages have their own little general store and patisserie, I don't think anybody in France could possibly be gluten intolerant. Mandee, you might starve if you come here. John chooses breakfast and lunch most days, and so far his choices have been excellent. I think any weight I'm riding off, is going ...

... at Christ’s birth. All these old cathedrals that we’ve seen really leave you speechless. To think of the effort, art, engineering and labor involved with building these places -back in the day before you had cranes and Autocad… Awe-inspiring. What drove these people to erect these monuments? Faith? Fear? Collective self-actualization? The attention to detail cannot be missed - from the stained glass windows to the carved wooden and stone ...
