... Paris which was worse than the M25 but once away from the city we found the quietest motorway which took us up near the coast and was worth paying for. We just opted for a campsite which at 30 euros was nearly double what we usually pay but we have got a very big private pitch and there are lots of facilities although the swimming pool is a bit busy as it's still very hot. There is some thunder in the distance and I think we might be getting wet tonight. We walked around the ...

... and the twins and me as the other 3 who just get on with it. The start was into a fairly strong wind and it was a bit chilly so we pretty quickly used the spare socks we had brought 'just in case' as gloves for the girls and put hoods inside helmets to keep the girls warm. It was hard going, we haven't had a ride for 5 months so legs weren't as fit as they used to be but we all kept going, even Lily who was hungry, thirsty, cold, tired and had sore ...

    ... when we were ready.

Our luck had changed in the end as it rained most of the day and was also quite windy making it not the most pleasant of sails. John had put our rain cover up so it kept the worst of it off us as we do prefer to be outside if possible. Isi saw a moorhen and chick we also saw a couple of cormorants or shags. We have not seen these birds in France until today.

The locks were n the whole OK and on this canal they ...
