Hi everyone, The morning we hitchhiked to barcelonette started with some tears and a nice man who gave us free apricots. After our breakfast, we started hitchhiking, it was already very hot so we decided to stand in the shadow. A few songs and some dancemoves later we got a lift from a guy who brought us to a local family pool. It looked idyllic but it was too good to be true. We find out that ...

Day 36 Heading North we travelled through Gorges du Verdon which is a 25km long and 700 meter deep river canyon, regarded as Europe's most beautiful canyon. ... We wanted an early start so requested breakfast at 7:30am. It was just us and the proprietor, and his huge black cat 'Kinder', who looked like a black panther. We chatted amiably about his guests, electric bikes, the nearest ski stations to the chalet and other things that I can't recall.

I was gutted to learn that the track pumps had gone from the bike room - the Dutch guys were packing up to go home and had already removed them. Fortunately some sweet talking from Helen ...

Our "bio" breakfast included porridge oats, raisins, homemade jams, toast and coffee served in proper-sized mugs. The coffee here has been great, but just sometimes we crave big mugfuls of it rather than the piddly little cups that most places serve.

We faffed about a bit while packing up, subconsciously delaying our departure and another 20 km of uphill cycling.

We were blessed with good weather again, clear blue ...
