... was full with Mercedes, BMWs, Audis from some distances away. I took some photos around the airfield for nostalgic purposes. The arena and curling rink at Baden appear to be operating as well. The former PMQ patch is a going concern. We had hoped to have lunch in Hugelsheim at either the Schwann or the Hirsch but both are temporarily closed. We had a great meal at the Grunner Baum across from the Schwann. We have been seeing a lot of such temporary closures. ...

There was entertainment in the bar. A violinist and a pianist and a MC...not sure why they needed a MC, maybe no English?? They were very good, I wish Sue Ball was here to tell us - because I know they were not symphony caliber but very good musicians, and this job gives them a chance to do what they love. Make a living? Not sure about that...although there are many, many tourists.

... the city hall dating back to 1200 although it has been extended twice with different architectural style. It has been rebuilt after being extensively damaged by allied bombing in WWII. The highlight was the Cologne cathedral, which is the second tallest church in Germany, is a magnificent structure. ... lights. Heidi of course normally walks up to the top... Starla and I were very pleased to be transported, but soon it was time to jump on the little carriage and make our way back down to the car.

When we arrived home Alfred had still not surfaced so was still most unwell.
For the rest of the day we just caught up with things at home and then went for a walk to the street to post cards to the kids.

The quality of the colour in the photographs is arguably better than those from the 1970s, and the images themselves appear to be in excellent condition.
